We ended our weekend in Garut at a traditional Ram Fight. Men from the region bring their prized rams to town on Sunday mornings. The event starts with a small group of musicians playing drums, gong and a clarinet like instrument. Then two rams are brought out. The competition is based on style. Points are given for how far back the ram steps before charging, for how squarely it hits and how well it takes the hit. The area is filled with mostly men who wager on the best while their children run around playing and teasing each other.
